THE WILL OF GOD

My dearest & most wonderful family I love ohh so very much!!!

This week was a wonderful one & full of so many adventures! I love
the mission life!!!! First off, because of Hermana Briggs leaving, our
Tuesday & Wednesday went a little differently. On Tuesday we were able
to fit in some lessons and visits and then that night we drove to
Gridley! We couldn't find a member to drive her to Antelope, she is
training and so the AP's said we could drive her ... (Abby, have I
told you yet that Elder Barney is AP?? Haha AP Barney!! Too good. No,
he really is an awesome missionary) and since it is a pretty long
drive, about 3 hours away, we decided to cut it up. So, we slept over
in Gridley at the Hermana Briggs and her new companion (the new
DARLING Hermana) Hermana Harper's apartment. Haha it was just Elder
Hernandez & Elder Tepox's apartment though so that was fun! I was
actually impressed by how clean & well kept it was for being an Elder
apartment but it still was clearly lived in by Elders. Haha so we
helped her clean it some more and then we had a fun little sleepover
in Gridley!! I loved it. We also got to see the Hamblin's & Brother
Orme for a minute so that was fun. Brother Orme gave us lots of
blankets & pillows to use. He seriously is my uncle. Love him so much.
Haha Hermana Piggott & I joke that Gridley feels soo much like home to
us that it's like we go to other areas for a little and then when
we're in Gridley it feels like we're back home. I love that little
town oh, so much. But then the next day we drove Hermana Briggs to
Antelope and that was fun! Haha we got to eat breakfast with all of
the trainers & trainees and then Sister Gilbert sent us on some
errands (grocery store) for her. Haha I felt like such a old
missionary. It was weird. I am not on the old side!! Who knew the day
would ever come. But so we were there for a little while, took care of
our car situation some more and then Hermana Piggott and I headed back
to our new home, Orland! Pretty crazy but we ended up driving about
215 miles that day. Far too much I tell you!! But like Hermana Piggott
always says, "More quality time together." Haha but so anyways ...
that was a fun adventure we had together.
Mercedes is still on date for October 25th and she is soo excited
about it. As are we!! We had an incredible lesson with her the other
day too and she is progressing perfectly. I love her! She is such a
sweetie. Seriously, I am so impressed with some of these young women!!
They are incredible!!!
A MIRACLE has come because of all of our earnest prayers &
fasting. LORENA WANTS TO GET MARRIED!!!! So, we went over on Tuesday
for our usual lesson with her and it didn't take long before she told
us that she had prayed and wants to marry Alfredo!! And not only does
she want to marry him but she cannot wait to marry him now! She told
us she was going to wait to tell him when he got back from Montana
too, so it could be a surprise, but just last night she told us she
already told him! Haha she couldn't wait any longer apparently. She
told him she wanted to marry him and he is sooo excited!!! We asked
her when she wanted marry him too and she said, "¡PRONTO!" She is
ready to marry him and will as soon as she can. Apparently they still
need to get his fingerprints or something for his immigration papers,
but as soon as that is all taken care of (we are crossing our fingers
it won't take too much time) they will get married and then after that
be baptized!! Haha we haven't even met Alfredo yet and we're already
anticipating his baptism. But Lorena told us he is excited to learn
from us, he liked what he learned in the past and she wants him to see
a baptism. Also, she had us talk on the phone again with him last
night when he called and he is so so nice to us, told us he is excited
to meet us again and he was all cheery on the phone so from our
perspective ... things are looking extremely promising. Also, their
little ones love us and Alexis is dying to be baptized so I have such
great faith in them. And they are still reading from the Book of
Mormon and praying together every single night!! I love this family
more than I can say!!! They are darling in every way. Ohhh, you would
all love them so much. I can just picture you all meeting them. Your
hearts would melt!!! Lorena is the sweetest person in the world and
little Eric & Alexis could not be more adorable. They are the cutest
little guys I've ever seen!!!! I love them! We feel soo comfortable
with them too and I honestly feel at home when I am in their home. I
know I knew them before this life!!!! They are TOO familiar to me. So
I will keep you updated on them but we're really hoping we can see
things happen before Hermana Piggott leaves however we know all will
happen in God's timing. Also, we found out last night that Alfredo is
now coming home from Montana in 2 days! It was going to be the 15th
but now it's Tuesday! We were all cheering. Haha I am SO excited for
him to come home and I don't even know him! I cannot wait to meet the
famous Alfredo!!! I'll tell you all about him next week!
Now, I can't hold it in any longer ... was General Conference not
beyond beyond incredible!? Ahhh I loved it sooo much!! I cannot even
express how much I loved it. It truly felt like Christmas morning two
days in a row, knowing I got to watch Conference for hours and hear
from our living Beloved Prophet Thomas S. Monson, his incredible
counselors, the twelve Apostles of our Lord and all other Spirit
filled leaders of our church! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints! The one & only true living church on the entire earth!! It is
incredible! I cannot think of anything more glorious to get excited &
celebrate about. Is there a better time of the year!?!? Besides
Christmas ... this is the absolute best!!!! I got such butterflies
before each session, anticipating and anxiously waiting to see all
that was going to be said. And something I really enjoyed watching
this time was every time President Monson entered the Conference
Center. The entire congregation got extremely quiet as they stood up
in great respect, love & admiration for him and you could tell it was
so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. I can only imagine how strong
the spirit must have been felt in the Conference Center as soon as he
walked in because I was only watching it from the tv screen and even
then it gave me chills. We have a living Prophet on the earth today!!!
Does everyone realize this!? A true living Beloved Prophet!! Who is
the mouthpiece for our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ and is still
receiving direct, personal revelation from the Savior Himself. The
Heavens are opened and God still speaks! As Elder Holland has
previously said, "God's words never cease!" and neither do His
revelations. Incredible!!! I think if we all took time each day to
realize this, our actions, attitudes and behaviors would be different
on a day to day basis. We have a living Prophet of God!!! And he lives
in our beautiful Salt Lake City!!!! Wow. How blessed are we!?!
But back to General Conference as a whole ... I learned so so much
and truly did feel completely edified, uplifted & inspired after each
talk and session. I loved it so much!! Every talk was so a Christ
centered and filled with soo much sincere care and affection. I could
feel Heavenly Father and Savior's love for me soo strongly and that
alone is so special. It is so clear that there is great urgency for
the gospel to be preached to every person throughout all the world and
for us members to be strengthened ourselves. I love how much focus
there was on us, as members, receiving more revelation in our own
lives and finding out truths for ourselves from God Himself. It is
time for us to strengthen our testimonies, cleanse our own inner
vessels and prepare for what is to come!! This is the time for us to
act and choose whether or not we want to choose God. From the talks
given, we can tell Heavenly Father is making sure we are all aware of
that!! "What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken ... whether by mine
own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same." - D&C 1:38
... and
Something very special for me though is this past week I have been
praying & pondering over what questions I wanted answered from
Conference. I pondered over what spiritual knowledge I wanted to gain,
help or guidance I wanted to receive, etc. Well ... I am happy & very
humbled to report that each and every one one of my questions were
answered and very very specifically & directly. It was almost mind
boggling at times how they could be addressing what was on my mind so
directly. Literally it was as if they had received a slip of paper
from me with the thoughts & questions on my mind and then personally
spoke to me about it. It was amazing. However something else that was
very special to me, was the revelation I received that wasn't
necessarily directly addressed by someone. The personal revelation
that came into my mind through my special companion, the Holy Ghost,
simply by listening to the talks and allowing my mind to ponder more
about it. I allowed my mind to be deepened & expanded allowing many
new thoughts & ideas to enter in. I would like to share with you one
specific revelation & inspiration I received. I am going to try to not
get too personal but I thought some of you may enjoy a few of my
thoughts as well. I know this topic is pretty broad and spoken of
quite often but for me, personally, it all of the sudden enlightened
me in a different way than before.
THE WILL OF GOD. This is one specific topic I have spent much time
thinking & pondering over during the course of my mission.  All
throughout my life I have been told to "align my will with the will of
God" for it is all we have to truly give.   "In the end, your heart
and your will is all that you have to give that the Lord does not
already have. If you give your time, [two years], and your strength,
you give only that which He grants to you with each beat of your heart
and each breath that you draw. If you dedicate your gifts and talents,
you only return to Him what He already has given to you. If you pay
tithing you only return to Him a tenth of what he has already given to
you. Everything that you have to give to the Lord, has its origin in
Him, except one thing: your will. He does not have your heart, nor
your mind, unless you give them to Him. It is the only gift you have
to offer that He does not already have. And so when you give yourself,
you truly give everything to Him." - Lawrence E. Corbridge ....    So,
with this great desire I have had to give my will to God, I have asked
myself these simple yet complex questions many many times. How can I
apply the will of God in my own life? How can I focus on His will more
than my own? How can I let His will overpower my own? Or better, how
can I allow His will to become my own will? How can I give myself up
completely to Him? How can I ALIGN my will with His?
What really hit me this weekend was one way we can know if we are
aligning our will with the will of God or doing His will is through
the powerful gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is a cleansing
agent that continually prompts & guides us to do what's right and what
is according to the will of God. It is then through these personal
promptings we receive that we can then become purified, sanctified and
more like our Savior, Jesus Christ, which is the potential our
Heavenly Father has in store for each of us. For even our Savior,
Jesus Christ said, "What manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say
unto you, even as I am." - 3 Nephi 27:27 ... With the Holy Ghost being
the third member of the Godhead, and his will and purpose being that
of the Father's and of our Savior's, it is through him we can achieve
this. I have now come to realize that I can know with surety that I am
doing God's will and aligning my own will with His as I make sure to
always follow the promptings I receive from the Holy Ghost. I also
must always be worthy of his companionship and pay special attention
to the counsel, promptings and guidance he gives me through his
"still, small, voice." If we do not put ourselves in situations where
the Holy Ghost can be present and feel comfortable ... or if we do not
heed & follow the promptings he gives us, we can be sure of whose will
we are choosing to follow. That being our own will. The Holy Ghost can
only be with us as long as we receive him and allow him to be.
However, if we reject his counsel and promptings, because of our free
agency and the Spirit's inability to push or force us to do anything,
he will simply let us be. It will be as if he says to us, "Good luck.
You're on your own. I hope everything works out for you." (Elder Brent
H. Nelson). In this crazy world full of temptations, afflictions,
hardships, etc. I do not feel comfortable in the slightest following
my own will, the desires of the "natural man," and fortunately I feel
an even greater desire to let the will of God work in me. To let the
Holy Ghost work in me. I trust my Heavenly Father's will completely
and will do all I can to make sure I am aligning my will with His
every single day. I want His will to be my will and I can feel that
change happening in me more and more as I let the Holy Ghost into my
life and have him as my constant companion. What a beautiful gift each
of us have. The gift of the Holy Ghost. It is so important we never
take it for granted and recognize it's great eternal importance and
role in our lives. We can know we are doing God's will and that
Heavenly Father is proud of us if we can feel the Spirit strongly in
our lives. If we can feel the Spirit working through us, we know for a
fact that our will is being aligned with God's.
How wonderful that we all have the ability to become as Gods and
Goddesses and there is a way to do it. Heavenly Father loves us
infinitely & individually and provides us a way to reach our full
potential and become exalted. I know the gift of the Holy Ghost is one
of the greatest tools we have been given. We must try our best to
continually be worthy of His companionship so that we can follow God's
will and again, receive the divine potential and treasure our dearest
Father in Heaven has in store for each & every one of us. Let us allow
the Holy Ghost to take place in our hearts & lives and not do what is
according to our own will and natural selfish, vain or prideful
desires. We should never let anything - including our own will - come
in the way of eternal life and all that matters most.
I love you all so much and hope you have a wonderful week!! I wish
I could have talked more specifically and in depth about all that I
learned in Conference. I think I could quote every line from each talk
and discuss every possible thing said but we can do that at a later
time!! There is far too much to say! However ...
I know that Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us more
than we can possibly imagine. I know He has a specific & perfect plan
for all of His children. I know that the Heavens are opened and He is
still speaking out to each of us, reaching out to us with open arms
and beckoning us to do all we can to come home to His loving presence.
I know that direct revelation from God is the rock on which Christ has
established His church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the true living Prophet on the
earth today and that his two beloved counselors and the 12 Apostles
are all true prophets, seers & revelators as well. I know that each of
us can know for ourselves the truths of the gospel through our own
personal revelation from God and I know that we can align our will
with His day by day as we are worthy of the companionship of the Holy
Ghost and follow the promptings we receive from him every day. I know
that it is through earnest prayer and scripture study that we can feel
the spirit more present in our lives as well and receive more
knowledge, direction and guidance. The church is true. I know it with
all of my heart and I know the principles taught are pure & true as
well. Christ is lives and He is the way. "This is the way; and there
is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved
in the kingdom of God." - 2 Nephi 31:21

Con amor,

Hermana Barth
